These hearts were woven of human joys and cares,
      Washed marvellously with sorrow, swift to mirth.
The years had given them kindness. Dawn was theirs,
      And sunset, and the colours of the earth.
These had seen movement, and heard music; known
      Slumber and waking; loved; gone proudly friended;
Felt the quick stir of wonder; sat alone;
      Touched flowers and furs and cheeks. All this is ended.
There are waters blown by changing winds to laughter
And lit by the rich skies, all day. And after,
      Frost, with a gesture, stays the waves that dance
And wandering loveliness. He leaves a white
      Unbroken glory, a gathered radiance,
A width, a shining peace, under the night.

This poem is referring to death, living life all of these years with happiness just to die in sorrow. "The Dead" definitely had a lot of meaning to it you can visualize a ton of this, it talks about being being in the coffin and all the things that are going on outside of it. This was a great poem it really made me connect in a way where life is to short and people risk their lives so most of us can live, really touched me. The word loved was used in a form of way where it really showed that these individuals were once loved and still are. There were definitely some parts in the poem that were fairly hard to understand I had to read through it a couple times and really picture what the author was feeling and his whole outlook.
